Richard E. Clay, 69, of Galesburg, died at 9 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center.
He was born January 24, 1949, in Galesburg, the son of Earl V. and Frankie I. (Gillis) Clay. He married Rhonda Kilby on March 1, 1969, in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years. Rhonda; a daughter, Catharine (Greg) Jordan of Atoka, Tennessee; two brothers, Gregg (Teresa) Clay of Dahinda and Rodger (Debbie) Clay of Galesburg; two sisters, Peggy (Rick) Danielson of Galesburg and Carol S. Clay of Chicago; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and in-laws on Rhonda’s side of the family, Diann Gravino of Galesburg, Kathy (Fred) Kimble of Wisconsin, Miki Buncher of Galesburg, Russ Kilby of California, Ron Kilby of Galesburg, and Karen (A.J.) Salsman of Galesburg. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, R. Michael Clay and a daughter, Erin Lyn Clay Marfell.
Rick worked in the office at Maytag for 35 years, retiring in June 2002. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1967. He loved to play golf, was an avid Cubs fan, and enjoyed NASCAR.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with his son-in-law, Rev. Greg Jordan, officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the service.
