Mr. Richard “Butch” Lee Liby, 75, of Biggsville, Illinois died 10:22 a.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.
He was born December 22, 1942 in Burlington, Iowa to William Gaylord and Lois Gertrude Duncan Liby. He married Linda Faye Beede
Surviving is a son, Chad Eric Liby of Aurora, Colorado, two daughters, Alisa Renee (and Gilbert) Gutierrez of Denver, Colorado and Amy LeeAnn (and Michael) McGhee of Wentzville, Missouri and four grandchildren, Jeremy Liby, Marleigh Gutierrez, Sage McGhee and Cameron McGhee. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, William Liby, Bob Liby and Jack Liby and a sister, Sandra DuBose.
Butch was a distribution manager for Coors Brewing Company, Golden Colorado for several years. He then worked as a bookkeeper for Laurel Uniforms in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He retired from Excel Fire Protection in Grand Junction, Colorado as a bookkeeper. He graduated from Galesburg High School, Galesburg, Illinois in 1960. He served in the United States Army. Butch was very active with the Lions Club. He was a member and Governor of the Six West Chapter. He was a volunteer driver for the hearing test bus. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Cremation will be accorded. A service will be held at a later date. Memorials in Richard’s name may be made to the Lion’s Club. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
