Mr. Richard "Rick" D. Trego

Mr. Richard “Rick” D. Trego, 67 of Abingdon, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at his home.

He was born June 13, 1951 in Chicago Heights, the son of Robert and Elizabeth “Betty” J. (Stewart) Trego, Sr.  He married Carol Hendricks on August 14, 1991in Palmyra, Missouri.

Rick is survived by his wife, Carol; one sister, Jackie (and Bill) Davis of Roseville; two brothers, Bob (and Barb) Trego of Monmouth and Jim Hopkins of Abingdon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Trego, Sr., his mother and stepfather, Betty and Marion Hopkins, and one brother and his wife, Larry (and Sue) Trego.

Rick graduated from Abingdon High School in 1970.  He worked as an assembler at Maytag in Galesburg for 31 years, retiring in September of 2004.  He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to feed his pet squirrels, especially “Scooter”.

Cremation will be accorded.  A time to celebrate Rick’s life will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Abingdon American Legion Post #381.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
