Mr. Robert L. Johnston

Mr. Robert L. Johnston, 91, of Galesburg, Illinois died 6:16 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, Illinois. 

Robert was born Mary 26, 1927 in Galesburg, the son of Robert W. Johnston and Mary Childers Johnston.  He married Evelyn Vallas on December 27, 1984 in Williamsfield, Ill.  She survives.

Also surviving is a son, Robert E. Johnston of Japan; two step sons, Richard Skinner of Texas and David Skinner of Iowa, a brother, Phillip Johnston of Galesburg, two grandchildren and one step grandson.  He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Christina L. Johnston, and one brother.

Robert spent most of his live in Galesburg.  He was in the US Navy and then worked as a trainman for CB&Q Railroad for 10 years.  He later worked as a machine operator for Caterpillar for 11 years. 

Robert loved to ride his Harley.  He was of the Baptist Faith.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  No services are planned.  Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Memorials may be made to the Richard L.
