Robert Wayne Pearcy, 72, of Galesburg died at 4:40 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 in his home.
He was born November 30, 1946, in Batesville, Arkansas, the third child of Raymond Everett and Lavina Francis (Harrison) Pearcy. He married Kathy Howland on July 16, 1966. He later married Isabelle (Melleny) Shepler on February 14, 1995 at Faith Baptist Church.
Robert is survived by his wife of 24 years, Isabelle; his children, Tonia Pearcy-Johnson of Galesburg, Kimberly (Howard) Seward of Brighton, Iowa, Robbie M. (Fran) Pearcy of Fall River, Massachusetts, James Shepler of Galesburg, and Larry Pearcy of Galesburg; two sisters, Ramona Larner of Quincy and Carolyn Hopping of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five sisters-in-law, Sarah Pearcy of Newark, Arkansas; Nancy McAtee of Seminole, Florida; Michelle (Joe Reed)Lee of Illinois City, Illinois; Teresa (Jeff Maynard) Robinson of East Moline, Illinois; Bonnie (Walt Miller) Melleny of Little York, Illinois; and one brother-in-law Steve (Billie Jo Ramirez Malesker) Melleny of Little York, Illinois. Robert also leaves behind eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Carl Pearcy; one grandson, Kenneth Jordan Johnson; and one granddaughter, Madison Eve Shepler.
Robert and his family moved to the Galesburg area from Arkansas in the 1950’s. He worked for Gates Rubber Company for 37 years, retiring in 2003. Robert and Isabelle attended Faith United Methodist Church and Faith Baptist Church. He was a faithful member of AA for 35 years. He enjoyed working in his garage and in the yard, listening to country music, and watching western films. Robert loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert will be remembered as someone you could depend on, always being around to lend a hand to his friends and family.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Pastor Vince Marolla will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
