Mr. Rodger Calhoon Obituary

Mr. Rodger E. Calhoon, 69, of Galesburg, Illinois died 5:54 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home. 

He was born January 29, 1949 in Cairo, Illinois to Eugene and Willie Birdsell Calhoon.  He married Fran Pettifurd November 11, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She survives.

Also surviving is a son Michael Calhoon of Galesburg, a daughter, Michelle Esp of Galesburg, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents. 

Rodger worked for Northgate Lanes in Galesburg as the head mechanic for several years. He was the owner of Tailgaters Bar and Grill in Knoxville, Illinois.  He also worked for Gates Rubber Company, Galesburg for 22 years and retired in 2015.  He graduated Galesburg High School in 1967.  Rodger loved bowling.  He traveled to several bowling tournaments and has rolled 300, 299 and 298 games in his career.  His name is in the USBC Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was an avid golfer, playing in golf leagues in the Galesburg area.  He also enjoyed playing slow pitch softball.  He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Rodger loved to have a good time and spending time with his wife, Fran. 

Cremation will be accorded.  A Celebration of Rodger’s Life will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2018 at The Corral on Grand Ave., Galesburg.  Memorials may be made in Rodger’s name to Hospice Compassus.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West, Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
