Mr. Steve W. Murfin, 73, of Galesburg, Illinois died 1:05 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born August 21, 1945 in Bushnell, Illinois to Clarence T. and Ruth L. Shumaker Murfin. He married Kathy Faye Cline November 13, 1981 in Abingdon, Illinois. She preceded him in death September 11, 2018.
Surviving are two sons, Corey W. Murfin of Galesburg and Joseph (and Amy) Hatch of Oneida, Illinois, three daughters, Stephanie A. Colvin of Galesburg, Sheila J. (and Richard) Crouse of Rio, Illinois and Nicole (and Eric) Gans of Plainfield, Illinois, a sister, Nellie (and Glen) Birdsell of Bushnell, Illinois, thirteen grandchildren, Amber, Wes, Scott, Cody, Whitney, Tyson, Courtney, Megan, Mallory, Brandon, Madi, Lauren and Sarah and two great grandchildren, Gaven and Gabby.
Steve worked for Bailey Excavating for 14 years and was the superintendent for the city of Abingdon Public Works for 15 years. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, motorcycles, fishing and wood working. He was a member of the Harley Owners Group, Kewanee Chapter.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service with his wife, Kathy, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jon Sims will officiate. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
