Mr. Vernon Wilson Obituary

Vernon Ralph Wilson, 78, of Rock Island, formerly of Wisconsin, died at 11:43 p.m., due to natural causes, Tuesday, April 16, 2019, in Unity Point Health-Trinity Rock Island.

He was born June 7, 1940, in Moline, the son of Ralph B. and Eileen (Rexrode) Wilson.

He is survived by a brother, David H. (Joanna) Wilson of Rock Island; a sister, Rachel Baughman of Moline; 11 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jane Ely; and two brothers, Danny and Doren Wilson;

Vernon was raised and educated in Moline.  He lived in Wisconsin for most of his life, returning to the Quad Cities five years ago.  He spent most of his working years as an over the road truck driver.  Vernon enjoyed fishing and meeting new people.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Vernon’s nieces, Christina and Bethany Wilson, for their dedicated care.

Cremation will be accorded.  His remains will be entombed, with military honors, at the Rock Island National Cemetery on Arsenal Island at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements for the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
