Mrs. Barbara Ann (Dunn) Carlson

Barbara Ann Carlson, 81, of Peoria, formerly of Woodhull, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at home.

She was born July 24, 1937, in Galesburg, the daughter of Richard and Ruth Ilene (Gustafson) Dunn.  She married Raymond Carlson on July 22, 1956, in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death in 2016.

She is survived by three sons, Steven (Cheryl) Carlson of Watertown, Wisconsin, Scott (Laurie) Carlson of Peoria, and Troy (Sara) Carlson of Williams, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Melissa Carlson, Sarah (Laramie) Schroeder, Daniel (Jennifer) Carlson, Evan Carlson, Hannah Carlson, Abby Carlson, and Nathan Carlson; two great grandchildren, Korbin Schroeder and Bennett Schroeder; two brothers, Pastor John (Anita) Carlson of Galesburg and Dan (Grace) Dunn of Corydon, Indiana; and two sisters, Janet (Harold) Griffith and Lois Malcolm, both of Galesburg.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her step father, Walter Carlson; a brother, Donald Carlson; and a sister, Caryl Poland.

Barbara was a homemaker, daycare provider, and a house cleaner.  She was raised and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1955. 

Barbara was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.  She enjoyed teaching Sunday school for most of her life.  She also enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the chapel.  Barbara’s three sons will officiate.  Burial will follow in Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Ophiem.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
