Betty Jean Davis, 91, passed away peacefully at 9:43 a.m. on August 7, 2018, at her home in Galesburg, Illinois.
Betty was born September 20, 1926, in Mulberry Kansas, the daughter of Floyd Ellis and Elizabeth Alice Humphreys. She married Ronald R. Davis, the love of her life, on April 14, 1947. Betty and Ronald were happily married for 54 years. He preceded Betty in death, August 20, 2001.
Betty is lovingly remembered by five devoted daughters: Tana (Terry) Anderson, of Cuba, Illinois; Dee (Mike) Williams, of Naples, Florida; Rona (Ron) Gutzky, of Galesburg, Illinois; Jane (Scott) Warren, of Galesburg, Illinois; and Lindsay (Keith) Peachey, of Galesburg, Illinois. Betty was blessed with nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her only sister; Leah Goulding and her grandson; Eric Anderson.
We all enjoyed Betty’s quick-wit and sense of humor. Betty was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was always looking out for her family, which was the center of her life.
For over 60 years she was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Betty was a faithful follower and disciple of Jesus Christ.
A very creative person, Betty, painted china and oil paintings enjoying every minute with her fellow artists. Betty also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and embroidery. Betty was a lifelong learner and an avid reader.
Visitation will be held at The First Church of the Nazarene, Friday, August 10, 2018 in Galesburg, Illinois at 12:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Betty will be laid to rest at Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois
