Mrs. Betty Lipe Obituary

Betty Lea Lipe, 88, of Galesburg, died at 3:48 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2019, in Seminary Manor, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born August 30, 1930, in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Clarence and Oneta Morris.  She married Harry Lipe on May 26, 1951, in Beaucoup, Illinois.  He preceded her in death July 29, 2013 after 62 years of marriage.

She is survived by a son, Curt (Vicki) Lipe of Galesburg; a daughter, Susan Ebersohl of Springfield, Illinois; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Edward and John Morris.

Betty was raised in northern Indiana until moving to Nashville, Illinois at the age of 15.  She graduated from Nashville High School.  She had worked in a clerical position with the City of Carbondale for many years.  Betty was also church secretary at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Carbondale.  She retired in 1993.

Betty was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Galesburg.  She enjoyed reading, playing cards (and always winning!), shopping, and traveling when she was in good health.

Cremation will be accorded.  Her remains will be entombed at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Galesburg.  There will be no visitation or public service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements for the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
