Betty C. Moser, 81 of Abingdon, passed away at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Monmouth Nursing Home in Monmouth, Illinois.
She was born October 9, 1937 in Oregon County, Missouri, the daughter of Edward and Nellie (Delana) Thompson. She married David W. Moser on April 1, 1961. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2014.
Betty is survived by her sons, Rick (and Traci) Hughes of Galesburg and John Moser of Abingdon; her daughters, Lisa (and Rich) Mathews of Kansas City, Kansas, and Pamela (and Josh) Johnson of Oquawka; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth (and Robert) Bundren of Galesburg; a brother-in-law, Butch Pickrel of Galesburg; and nieces and nephews and their families. She is also survived by her stepchildren, David (and Reba) Moser, Brad (and Diane) Moser, Tom Moser and Judy (and Richard) Schultz and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jackie Thompson in infancy, and Ronnie Thompson, and a sister, Donna Pickrel.
Betty had lived in Abingdon since the 1950’s. She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1955. She later attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. She worked at the Abingdon Blue Bell Factory, OMC in Galesburg for 28 years, in the office at Bixby-Zimmer in Galesburg and later cleaned offices at the railroad. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, working word search puzzles, shopping and driving around to see nature and what was going on in town. She was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Russ Witkowski will officiate. Burial will be in the Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel.
