Carol Ann Wingo, 83, of Galesburg, died at 5:14 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2019 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
She was born October 17, 1935, in Galesburg, the daughter of George William “Bill” and Johanna Louise (Larson) Eastburg. She married Donald E. Wingo on January 15, 1953, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death July 23, 2002.
She is survived by four children, Mark (Anna) Wingo, Kevin Wingo, and Cindy (Rodney) Blue, all of Galesburg and Donald (Ajat Mehta) Wingo of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Julie (Brian) Hutchison, Amy (David) Schudel, Lisa Wingo, Andrew (Sarah) Wingo, Kristopher Wingo, and Danielle Wingo, all of Galesburg, Marissa Wingo of San Francisco, California, Jason (Traycie) Nigoza of Elgin, Jami (Ryan) White of St. Charles, Drexler Blue of Lexington, Kentucky, and Rodney (Jill) Blue Jr. of East Moline; 24 great-grandchildren, Sierra, William, Nathaniel, Joey, Alex, Bella, Abby, Sammy, Kyrstin, Cody, Olivia, Adam, John, Dominique, Luckas, Liam, Brandon, Myles, Reese, Zoe, Trevor, Reagan, a baby boy due in August, and Camille; two brothers, George (Sue) Eastburg of East Galesburg and Chuck (Linda) Eastburg of Burlington, Wisconsin; a sister-in-law, Robin Eastburg of Galesburg; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Asia. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Nawal Wingo; and a brother, Jerry Eastburg.
Carol had many jobs over the years including New Mode, O.T. Johnson’s, and Marty’s. She was a waitress at Club 19 for many years. Carol was a receptionist at the Galesburg Clinic for 18 years, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed spending time with her children and great-grandchildren, working puzzles, reading, watching CNN, the Chicago Cubs, and golfing. Carol especially loved her reunion meals with her Galesburg Clinic friends. While Carol was an amazing cook, she liked eating out. She was a life-long dog lover. Carol was raised on a farm, where she developed a life-long love of riding horses.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with her grandson, Pastor Andrew Wingo, officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
