Mrs. Carolyn Fleming-Finley, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois died 6:15 a.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
She was born March 27, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Andrew C. and Ida Louise Summers Fleming, Jr. She married Rev. Lugene Finley August 19, 1990 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death August 20, 2013.
Surviving are four step sons, Lugene (and Carol) Finley, Jr. of Springfield, Illinois, Rev. Michael (and Amy) Finley of Galesburg, Jessie (and Judy) Finley of California and Carl Lee Finley of New Mexico, seven step daughters, Gloria Finley, of Galesburg, Inez (and Peter) Robles of California, Nadine Finley of Ohio, Diane (and Brian) Woodyear of Ohio, Julie (and Mark) Shealey of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Ilene (and Ben) Sims of Virginia and Stephanie Finley of Virginia, two brothers, Glenn (and Barbara) Fleming of Suwanee, Georgia and Walter "Gator" Fleming of Peoria, Illinois, a sister, Paulette (and Jerry D.) Gilmore of Geneseo, Illinois, a sister-in-law, Gail Fleming of Galesburg, two cousins Vicki Brown Cooper and Lana Brooks of Raleigh, North Carolina, several cousins, nieces and nephews and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Karl Michael "Goose" Fleming and David Fleming.
Carolyn graduated from Galesburg High School in 1962. She worked for the Illinois Department of Mental Health at Zellar Mental Health Care Center in Peoria as a mental health technician for over 30 years. She was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church and later a member of Star of Bethlehem Church both in Galesburg.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Jimmy D. Barnside will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Cremation will follow the funeral service. A private committal service will be held in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg at a later date.
