Mrs. Christa E. McDonald

Mrs. Christa E. (Ishi) McDonald 68 of Galesburg passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg surrounded with family and friends.

She was born February 24, 1951 in Galesburg.

Surviving is her Daughter, Alethea J. McDonald of Galesburg; a niece, Theresa Divers of Galesburg; a nephew, Jeffery Jape of Colorado; two great nephews Nathan Tadd of Houston Texas and Jaren Edwards of Washington; and cousins Mike Brooks of Galesburg, and Linda Ward of Houston Texas.

Preceded in death by her father Keith “Butch” Denly, Grandparents Herman & Minna Balzat and Orville & Dorothy White Denly, an Aunt Donna (Leo) Brooks, and sisters Mariea Tadd and Sandra Denly.

Christa graduated from Galesburg High School in 1969.  She spent much of her life exploring the United States. Hiking and camping were two of her greatest joys. She was employed as a bar manager and cook for many years. Then later in life she became a CNA to pursue a passion of caring for others until retirement. She remained active with pet fostering and rehabilitation. She believed education never stopped and enjoyed many years learning about healthy living and eating habits. She loved animals of every kind. Her daughter was her world and often would tell others that she was her greatest joy and accomplishment in life.  The family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood Care Center and Hospice Compassus for the exceptional care that they gave to Christa. 

As Christa requested, cremation will be accorded.  There are no services scheduled.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
