Mrs. Dorothy J. (Paulsgrove) St. George

Mrs. Dorothy J. St. George, 98, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 6:00 am Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in Rosewood Care Center.

Dorothy was born July 31, 1920 in Galesburg, the daughter of James and Alta Hatch Paulsgrove. She married Virgil Appell in 1938.  He preceded her in death on September 12, 1967. She later married John St. George on October 15, 1976 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death on June 16, 1999.

She is survived by two daughters, Connie (and Francis) Chinlund of Aledo, Illinois and Vickie (and Carl) Nixon of Galesburg; two brothers, Max Paulsgrove of Aledo and Glenn Paulsgrove of Knoxville, Illinois; three grandchildren, Melissa Williams of Peoria, Illinois, Amanda Aberle of Galesburg and Carrie Alter of Aledo; seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James W. Paulsgrove; two sisters, Helen Cross and Garnet Jones and one grandson, Cory Chinlund.

Dorothy lived a few years in Galva before spending the rest of her life in Galesburg.  She attended Victoria High School, graduating in 1938.  She worked in sales for a number of retail stores in Galesburg, including OT Johnsons, J. C. Penny’s and for 20 years, at Kline’s Department Store. 

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galesburg. She was very active in church activities and was a member of the Debra Circle.

All are welcome to attend the graveside service scheduled for 11:30 am Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Cremation will be accorded.  No visitation is planned.  Pastor Vince Marolla will officiate. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church or Beacon of Hope Hospice.
