Mrs. Ellen Mae (Daniels) Weinberg

Mrs. Ellen M. Weinberg, 84, of Galesburg passed away the morning of Saturday, May 4, 2019 surrounded by loved ones at Heartland Healthcare Center.

 Ellen was born May 16, 1934 in Galesburg to Harry B. and Grace F. (Beyru) Daniels. She married William T. “Bill” Weinberg in Galesburg on December 1, 1951. After 41 years of marriage, he preceded Ellen in death February 13, 1993.

 She is survived by her children David (Brenda) Weinberg of Gilson and Debi Simmons of Galesburg, one sister Eloise Hilligoss of Galesburg, five grandsons Eric Simmons, Chad (Amy ) Simmons, Michael (Jeri) Weinberg, Kyle (Jessica) Dennis, and Jason (Betsy) Weinberg, and one granddaughter Erica (Vinny Rosenberry) Weinberg. Also surviving are her four great grandchildren Logan, Connor, Avery, and Aaliyah as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill Weinberg, one daughter Vickie S. Dennis, one brother James Daniels, two sisters Doris Engle and Dolly Foster, and one son-in-law Kris Simmons.

Ellen was raised and educated in Galesburg. After she and Bill were married, Ellen became a homemaker. Her family was her life; she made sure that everyone was taken care of. Ellen enjoyed making crafts, working in her yard, tending to her flowers, and going fishing on the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers with Bill.

Visitation will be Friday, May 10, 2019 from 12 to 1 p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Warren County Hope Cemetery. Reverend Katie Gallagher will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice or to The Family.
