Mrs. Geraldine R. (Swanson) Pahel

Mrs. Geraldine R. Pahel, 88, of Galesburg, Illinois died 3:42 p.m. Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

She was born September 30, 1930 in West Seneca, New York to John Harold and Lucille (McLaughlin) Swanson.  She married Ivan Harlan.  She later married Kenneth Pahel September of 1995 in Galesburg.  He preceded her in death July 18, 2010.

Surviving is a step son, Tim Pahel of Monmouth, Illinois, a step daughter, Melissa Jacks of Austin, Texas, a brother, William (and Sandy) Swanson of British Columbia, Canada, two sisters, Lucille DeMarce of Altamont, Florida and Donna Carlson of Dunlap, Illinois, a grandson, Harlan (and Sarah) Walcott of Kissimmee, Florida and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Rebecca Walcott, and three brothers, John Swanson, Donald Swanson and Allan Swanson. 

Geraldine graduated from Dunlap High School in 1948 and attended Knox College.  She graduated from Cottage School of Nursing, Galesburg.  She was a nurse for Alternative for Older Adults for several years. 

Cremation was accorded.  A Celebration of Life visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Knox College Ferris Lounge, Galesburg.  In lieu of flowers, the memorials may be made to Susan G. Koman.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
