Mrs. Imeater Davidson, 90, of Galesburg, died at 4:05 am Thursday, March 29, 2018 at home.
She was born February 7, 1928 in Georgianna, Alabama the daughter of Melvin and Velma Gipson Mims, Sr. She married A.C. Coleman and later married Henry Davidson, Jr. He preceded her in death.
Imeater is survived by one son, Danny R. (Lori) Coleman of Troy, Missouri; three daughters, Kay L. (Willie) Braxton, Patricia A. Davis and Janet S. Davis all of Galesburg; one brother, Rev. John H. (Vicki) Mims of Quincy, Illinois; three sisters, Alice U. Smith, Dorothy G. Wilson and Gloria G. Williams all of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Victor Davis II, Bryson (Amber) Davis, Michelle Davis, Amanda Davis, Destiny Coleman and Deanna Davis; and four great grandchildren, Bryleigh, Mariana, Elijah and Noah. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Clyde J. Mims and Melvin Mims and sister, Rosie L. Lewis.
Imeater began working for the Harbor Lights Restaurant as a cook. She also worked as a housekeeper and a CNA. She later worked for District 205 as an aide in the lunchrooms. Imeater was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church. She served as an usher, a cook, she sang in the choir and served on the Mothers Board. Imeater enjoyed traveling and watching her grandchildren's sport activities.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Noon Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg. Her brother, Rev. John H. Mims will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00-Noon Saturday, at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the Family.
