Mrs. Jeanie (Given) Scholey

Mrs. Jeanie Scholey, 79, of Galesburg, Illinois died 9:12 a.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

She was born July 15, 1938 in Galesburg to Robert E. Given and Waustella F. Hamp Dooley.  She married Terry Wilson in 1968 in Knoxville, Illinois.  She later married Keith Scholey in 2003 in Orion, Illinois.  He survives. 

Also surviving are two daughters, Terri (and Todd) Wilson-Nilles of Ft. Myers, Florida and Michele (and Michael) Dennis of Abingdon, Illinois, eight grandchildren, Michele, Bri, Kayleigh, Seth, Morgan, Ethan, Jakob and Braden and five great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents. 

When Jeanie was younger, she was a cosmetologist and instructor for the Galesburg School of Beauty which was the school that her mother owned and operated.  She later worked in the mental health profession at Bridgeway in Galesburg for 33 years and retired in 2014.  Jeanie was adopted by the Oglala Sioux Tribe.  She was a humanitarian for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.  She enjoyed gardening, making jewelry, beading, pottery, painting, teaching ceramic and playing the piano. 

Jeanie’s wishes were to be cremated.  A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
