Juanita Mae DeJaynes, 91 of Galesburg, formerly of Abingdon and Oquawka, passed away at 4:12 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born September 17, 1926 in Roodhouse, the daughter of James Floyd and Ethel (Monroe) Condreay. She married Jesse DeJaynes on July 22, 1946 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three infant children, Joyce, Gary and Jimmy, one granddaughter, Krystal DeJaynes, one great-great-grandson, Malachi Fox, four brothers, Harold, James, Walter and Robert and two sisters, Vivian Tinkham and Martha McGraw Reeves.
Juanita is survived by her children, Linda (and Harry) Fox of Galesburg, Terry (and Lora) DeJaynes of Gladstone and Rick (and Gwen) DeJaynes of Winter, Wisconsin; 9 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Condreay of Windy, Kentucky and one sister, Karen Condreay of Monmouth; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
She lived in Abingdon most of her life. She worked at the Abingdon Blue Bell, a military commissary, the railroad and the Monmouth Pottery. She was a homemaker and “Great Mother”. She enjoyed crocheting, dancing, fishing, camping, singing around the campfire, drinking a cold beer and family reunions.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel followed by a graveside service at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Danny Hunt will officiate.
