Letha Reynolds Benner, 88, a long-time resident of Galesburg, died Thursday, March 7, 2019 in her hometown of Newark, Ohio.
She was born September 28, 1930, in Newark, the daughter of Raymond and Florence (Clary) Dyer. She married Ralph L. Reynolds on October 3, 1948, in Newark. He preceded her in death June 6, 1986. She married Garry Benner on May 23, 2009. He survives.
She is also survived by five children, Joyce Ericson, Susan Reynolds, James (Lisa) Reynolds, Roger (Maggie Pendergast) Reynolds, and Charles (Kathleen Ridlon) Reynolds, all of Galesburg; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Phyllis Rotert and Eldeen Ambrus.
Throughout her 35-year career in office supply sales for Dunsworth Stationers, Knox Office Equipment, Office Equipment and Supply, Wilkinson’s, Lincoln Office, and U.S. Office Products, her customers became friends and friends became family. Letha finished her career with Century 21 before re-marrying at age 79, and moving back to her childhood hometown.
Letha was a decades long member of Central Congregational Church, Altrusa Club and American Business Women’s Association. She enjoyed gardening, reading and listening to all kinds of music, especially Willie Nelson. She was a treasure trove of family history. Letha was the matriarch of a large and loving family and will be greatly missed by many.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Central Congregational Church. Burial will be with Ralph in East Linwood Cemetery.
