Lillian M. Layton, 89, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Heartland Health Care Center.
She was born March 14, 1929 in St. Genevieve, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Ada Maryann Cassidy Sadler. She married Wilfred J. Layton, Sr. on December 26, 1945 in St. Genevieve. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1995.
Lillian is survived by one son, Richard (Diane) Layton of Gerlaw, Illinois; two daughters-in-law, Janet Layton of Galesburg and Stacy Layton Watson of Mesa, Arizona; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Wilfred Layton, Jr. and Terry Layton; three sisters; and one brother.
Lillian worked for School District 205 as a custodian for 13 years, retiring in 1992. She also worked for Elmer’s Spudnut and Swedoughs. She graduated from high school in Chicago. Lillian was a member of the Church of the Open Bible. She enjoyed playing the piano.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Pastor Mark Dexter and Pastor Bob Malone will officiate. Visitation will 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
