Mrs. Lois Ruth Merideth, 88, of Galesburg died 8:20 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg. 

Lois Ruth was born June 20, 1929 in Macomb, Ill. the daughter of John W. White and Stella Rice White.  She married Harold E. Merideth on May 26, 1984 in Macomb.  He preceded her in death on July 17, 2003. 

She is survived by a niece, two nephews, several cousins including Bill (and Judy) Renken of Monmouth, Louise Reynolds of Macomb, Illinois, Edith (and Merlin) Ray of Seaton, Illinois, Albert (and Diane) Renken of Stronghurst, Illinois and Mary E. Hall of Alton, Illinois and special friends whom took care of her, Steve and Patsy Bates and their family of Galesburg.  She is preceded in death by her parents.                                 

Lois Ruth was raised in Plymouth, Ill. and lived a number of years in Macomb, Ill. before moving to Galesburg in 1987.  She attended Plymouth High School, graduating in 1947.  She worked 6 years for the Plymouth Farmers Switchboard in Plymouth, Ill. and then worked 33 years for General Telephone in Macomb as an operator. She retired in 1986.

Lois Ruth was a member of the Christian Church in Macomb.  She was also a member of the Pioneer Club, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and a Charter Member of the AMVETS in Knoxville, Ill. 

Lois loved crafting and knitting and she enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends. 

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made to the AMVETS.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
