Mrs. Margaret Viola Reedy, 92 of Galesburg, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the Rosewood Care Center of Galesburg with her loving family at her side.
She was born September 18, 1926 in the family home near Adair, the daughter of Ralph Dewey and Lora Mildred (Phillips) Foster. She married Earl E. Reedy on July 28, 1945 in Adair and they made their home in rural Table Grove. Earl preceded her in death on June 15, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John Foster and her sister, Doris Hunter.
Margaret is survived by her 10 children, David (and Carol) Reedy of Naperville, Viola (and Ken) Walters of Hermon, Nita (and Rod) Burg of Macomb, John (and Debbie) Reedy of Galesburg, Ellen (and Ron) Webb of Lewistown, Carla Reedy of Galesburg, Mark Reedy of Galesburg, Kevin (and Cindy) Reedy of Alpha, Harlan Reedy of Macomb, and Selina (and Jim) Ladd of Springfield; 16 grandchildren, David, Michael, Keith, Nathan, Nanci, Michelle, Shawna, Daniel, Jennifer, Joseph, Jacob, Gwen, Alysha, Colton, Riley and Spencer; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Howard of Morton.
She graduated from Adair High School in 1944. Her first job was in the office at Camp Ellis. She was a homemaker, farm wife, and a Studio Girl sales representative. She moved to the Galesburg area in 1978. She was a cashier at the K-Mart Store in Galesburg, retiring in August of 2009 after 29 years of service. She was of the Christian faith. She was known for her cinnamon rolls and enjoyed raising vegetables and canning and freezing them. In her earlier years, she enjoyed horseback riding.
Margaret’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. Mike Ulmer will officiate. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Table Grove. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel.
