Mrs. Mary Jean (Anderson) Hannam

Mrs. Mary Jean Hannam, 89, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 12:51 pm Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

She was born May 16, 1929 in Woodhull, Illinois the daughter of Harry and Ruth E. Peterson Anderson. She married Roger L. Hannam on September 4, 1949 in Woodhull. He preceded her in death November 8, 2005.

Mary is survived by her children, Gail Hannam, Mark P. (and Becky) Hannam; both of Galesburg and Sandra J. (and Matt) Newton of Erie, Illinois; her brother, Kenneth Anderson of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Bobbie, Ben, Raegan, Jake, Morgan and Maddie; seven great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and special friends, Lorie (Mike) and Ellen Larsen. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Roger, her brother, Howard Anderson and her sister, M. Joyce Hendricks.

Mary was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She graduated from Oneida High School in 1947. Mary enjoyed playing golf at Bunker Links Golf Course and being involved in the Ladies Leagues. Mary was an avid reader and loved to “Go to the Boat”. One of her favorite past times was playing cards with her friends at Lieber’s Boxcar Express.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremations Services, Galesburg. Mary’s friend, Lorie Larsen will officiate services. Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 am Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Walter Lawson Children’s Home in Loves Park, Illinois, in honor of her granddaughter, Raegan or to Habitat for Humanity, in honor of her granddaughter, Bobbie.
