Mrs. Myrtis I. (Carlson) Collinson

Mrs. Myrtis I. Collinson, 85, of Galesburg, Illinois died 8:11 a.m. Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg.  

She was born October 18, 1933 in Altona, Illinois to LaVerne and Elsie (Wilson) Carlson.  She married Lyle Collinson September 26, 1952 in Galva, Illinois.  He preceded her in death April 30, 2016. 

Surviving are four sons, Richard (and Donna) Collinson of Knoxville, Illinois; Joseph (and Twana) Collinson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Donald (and Cindy) Collinson of Galva; and Ronald (and Marie) Collinson of Galesburg, two daughters, Teri Collinson of Keithsburg, Illinois, and Lila (and Gary) Montooth of Kewanee, Illinois, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, LaVerne Carlson, Jr. 

Myrtis graduated from Galva High School in 1951.  She was a secretary for Galesburg Cottage Hospital for 33 years and retired in 1996.  She was a member of the former Emmanuel Methodist church in Galesburg and the former Sportsman’s Club in Galva.  She enjoyed and created several memories camping with her husband and family. 

Cremation will be accorded.  A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Rev. Chuck Reynolds will officiate.  Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the chapel.  A private committal service will be held at a later date in Galva Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Disabled Veterans National Foundation.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
