Nancy Carol Muir, 68 of Ladd, Illinois and formerly of Abingdon, passed away at 3:39 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria surrounded by the love of her family.
She was born March 5, 1950 in Monmouth, the daughter of Carl Leroy and Nettie Ann (Elander) Johnson. She married Howard Muir on September 3, 1971 in Canton.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Howard; her children, John Muir of Noblesville, Indiana, Carl (and Leigh) Muir of Noblesville, Indiana, and Brian Muir of Rock Island; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; her siblings, David L. (and Anita) Johnson of Enid, Oklahoma, Richard Johnson of Galesburg and Barbie (and Mark) Johnson of Abingdon; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl Leroy Johnson, Jr.
She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1968. She worked at St. Mary’s Square in Galesburg for 28 ½ years as a health care giver. She lived in Abingdon most of her life and in Ladd the past 2 years. She attended the United Methodist Church near Peru, Illinois. Her hobbies included reading, watching Hallmark movies, going to the riverboats, and enjoying an occasional screwdriver. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandkids.
Nancy always wanted to help people and even in her death she is helping others by being a tissue donor through Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Network.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation will be accorded after the visitation.
