Mrs. Rose Marie Turvey, 88, of Galesburg died Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:34 a.m. in Chesterfield, Missouri.
She was born May 15, 1930 in Taylorville, Illinois to Clarence and Iva Pearl (McKee) Brown. Rose married Eugene Turvey on August 12, 1950. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2012.
Rose is survived by her 3 sons; Vic (Lisa) Turvey of Chesterfield, Missouri; Brad (Julie) Turvey of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri and Mike (Linda) Turvey; of Des Moines, Iowa; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Carol Sue Brown, and one brother, Gene Brown.
Rose is a 1948 graduate of Nokomis High School. After graduating she worked as a bookkeeper for Tri States Water Company for over 30 years before her retirement in 1992. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed being part of her church’s sewing club and card club and was a lifelong avid Cardinal Baseball fan.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the chapel. Rev Shawn Smith will officiate. Graveside services will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, Illinois; following the funeral services at approximately 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
