Mrs. Sandra L. (Jackson) Gordon

Sandra L. Gordon, 77, of Galesburg, died at 11:44 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019, in Unity Point-Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born January 27, 1941, in Galesburg, the daughter of Booker and June (Simmons) Jackson.  She married Walter Gordon on December 7, 1974, in Galesburg.

She is survived by her husband of over 44 years, Walter; a daughter, Julie (Jones) Smith of Galesburg; step children, Walter (Susan) Gordon of Galesburg and Terryl Gordon of Maplewood, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Sharnel, Ashley, Walter III, Misty, Dana, Terra, and Kyle; 10 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; five siblings, Veronica Peoples of Galesburg, William Lewis of Galesburg, Diane Lewis of Las Vegas, Nevada, James (Annie) Lewis of Minnesota, and Janet Peyton of Galesburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Lamond; and a step daughter, Marsha.

Sandra worked as a sales representative for the telephone company (Intra-State, Sprint, Centel, Gallatin River) for 34 years, retiring in 2006.  She was a life-long Galesburg resident who graduated from Galesburg High School and attended Brown’s Business College.

Sandra participated in Relay for Life for many years.  She enjoyed shopping and traveling with friends and family.

Cremation will be accorded.  A celebration of her life will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  Burial will be at a later date in Linwood Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
