Mrs. Virginia L. (Faust) Griffith

Virginia L. Griffith, 85, of Galesburg, died at 6:24 a.m. Thursday, November 22, 2018 in Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born June 12, 1933, in Galesburg, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Hall) Faust.  She married Harold C. Griffith on November 19, 1960, in Galesburg.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold; a son, David Griffith of Galesburg; two daughters, Jean Griffith of Columbia, Missouri and Linda (Chris) Krei of Chicago; three grandchildren, Haven, Jansen, and Caden Krei; a brother, Allan (Joyce) Faust of Galesburg; and a sister, Margaret (the late, Gene) Mueller of Knoxville, Tennessee.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jimmy Faust.

Virginia was primarily a homemaker, but had worked at Meadow Gold Creamery and baked and decorated cakes at Fremont House Bakery.  She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1953 and attended the Knox College Conservatory of Music.  She was an active member of Central Congregational Church.

Virginia enjoyed music and singing, baking, taking car rides, and history.  She was a lover of nature, enjoying watching birds and hunting for arrowheads.

Cremation will be accorded.  Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Central Congregational Church with Rev. Dr. Sterrett Collins officiating.  Private family burial will be in Linwood Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Central Congregational Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
