Ms. Barbara Gene (Shellnut) Gustavus

Ms. Barbara G. Gustavus, 72, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 6:35 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born March 14, 1946 in San Bernadino, California to John and Katy Hansen Shellnut.  She married Kenneth Neal in Galesburg.  She then married Jimmie Gray in Galesburg.  Later she married Ronald Gustavus in Galesburg. 

Surviving are her two daughters, Tracy Lynn Neal-Stone of Kissimmee, Florida and Teddy Jean (and Dale) Gray-Gaddis of Galesburg, five grandchildren, Duane Jackson, Jr., Kenneth Jackson, John Jackson, Samantha Gaddis and Cheyenne Gaddis and six great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Barbara graduated from Galesburg High School in 1964. She worked for Maytag Corporation as a silver brazer for 33 years and retired in 1999.  She attended the Salvation Army Church and stayed faithful to the Lord Jesus. 

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Salvation Army Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to be given to World Vision or the Salvation Army. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
