Ms. Bonnie Axcell Obituary

Ms. Bonnie S. Axcell, 69, of Galesburg died at 8:43 a.m., October 13, 2019, in her home.

Bonnie was born in Galesburg on December 6, 1949 to Mr. Ralph D. and Margaret G. (Hillard) Cannon, Sr. She married Donald F. “Fred” Axcell on August 19, 1967. Together they had five beautiful children and later divorced.

She is survived by her children Lisa (Shane McElmurray) Axcell of Galesburg, Dean (Kelli) Axcell of Knoxville, Stacey (Troy) Morrison of Galesburg, Amy (James) Neal of Abingdon, and Hollie (Eric Crooks) Axcell of Knoxville; three sisters Lynda Eaves of Galesburg, Connie (Don) Dawson of Morton, Illinois, and Debbie Carlson of Marietta, Georgia. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; Trey Morrison, Breanna (Nick) Carpentier, Linze (Trenton Barker) Axcell, Nathan Morrison, Megan Axcell, Ashlie Doney, Branden (Averie Logsdon) Neal, Samantha Axcell, Shaelynn Morrison, Alyssa Doney, and Logan Doney; and four great grandchildren Maddox, Ava, Roman, Eleanor, and one great grandchild on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Ralph Cannon, Jr. and Robert Cannon, and one grandson Tyler James Neal.

Bonnie was raised and educated in Galesburg. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene and was of Christian faith. Bonnie was a loving caretaker—she loved being a mother and grandmother. When her children were in school, she was present at their sporting events. She was a basketball fan and enjoyed cheering on the Lady Bullets of Knoxville, where her son coaches. She will be remembered for her love of Elvis and Country Western music.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel. Private family graveside services will be Thursday at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to either the family or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
