Ms. Helen M. (Walker) Thompson

Mrs. Helen Marie Thompson, 72, of Galesburg died Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 6:35 p.m. in Cottage Hospital.

Helen was born in Jackson, Mississippi on April 2, 1946 to John D. and Pinkie (Bowie) Walker.  She married Melvin L. Thompson Sr. in Chicago, Illinois.

She is survived by her children; Melvin L. (Alisha) Thompson Jr., Anita J Thompson, Donna M. Golden and Hope C. Thompson; her sisters, Essie Harrison, Bessie Haley and Cleo Benson survive along with brothers, Troy Walker, J.T. Walker, David Walker and Eddie Bowie. Helen leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great grandchildren.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her ex-husband; her brother, John Walker; and her sister, Annie Jordan.

Helen moved from Mississippi to Chicago, Illinois in the early 60’s with her family before moving to Galesburg in 2015.

Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of life is being scheduled for a later date. Memorials may be made out to The Family of Helen M. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements.
