Ms. Linda J. (Davis) O'Dean

Ms. Linda J. O’Dean, 71, of Galesburg, Illinois died 8:52 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center, Galesburg. 

She was born October 25, 1947 in Galesburg to Frederick and Berneice (Wagher) Davis.  She married Malcolm “Sandy” O’Dean in 1968 in Galesburg. 

Surviving are three children, John O’Dean of Galesburg, Julie Galyean of Galesburg, and Michael (and Angela) O’Dean of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, two sisters, Kim Davis of Madison, Wisconsin and Karen (and Ron) Hamilton of Onalaska, Wisconsin, eight grandchildren, Courtney Sargeant, Taylor Galyean, Lucas Galyean, Hannah Galyean, Carter Galyean, Marek O’Dean, Mason O’Dean, and Meira O’Dean and a great grandchild, Maddox Morrison.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Kelly O’Dean, and a brother, John Davis. 

Linda graduated from Galesburg High School in 1965.  She attended Brown’s Business College in Galesburg.  She worked in the clerical field at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois, State Farm Insurance in Marion, Illinois, Knox County Court House in Galesburg, Knox College in Galesburg for five years, A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company in Galesburg for two years, and ADM Company in Galesburg for 20 years.  Linda was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg and was a member of the church choir and bell choir.  She also was involved with the Sweet Adeline’s and BBC Sanctity Choir.  She was a member of the Legal Secretaries and Knox College Junior Women’s Club. 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the chapel.  Memorials may be made to the family or charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
