Marcella S. Gilson, 64, of Galesburg, died at 3:35 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at home.
She was born February 7, 1954, in Galesburg, the daughter of Donald and JoAnn (White) Lindberg. She married Steve Gilson. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by her father, Donald in Missouri; her companion of 25 years, Ken Sharp; two daughters, Tracy L. Aldridge of Silvis and Christy M. Gilson-Wall of Galesburg; four grandchildren; Tim Duckwiler, Jessica Rivera, Brandon Wall, and Hanna Wall; three great grandchildren, Markus Duckwiler, Illicia Myers and Cassidy Myers; a brother, Mark Lindberg in Arizona; and a sister, Jennie Valentine in Arizona. She was also preceded in death by her mother; two daughters, Amy D. Mack and Lisa K. Mack; a brother, Jim Lindberg, and a great grandson, Jasper Newland.
Marcella graduated from Galesburg High School and from the nursing program at Carl Sandburg College. She worked as a nurse for 30 years.
Marcella loved gardening, trivia, gameshows, crafts, and trinkets. She enjoyed learning about Egyptian culture and collected Egyptian items.
Cremation will be accorded. No visitation or service is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements for the family.
