Ms. Peggy L. Swanson

Ms. Peggy L. Swanson, 74, of Knoxville, Illinois died 10:27 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Toulon Health Care Center, Toulon, Illinois.

She was born June 18, 1944 in Galesburg to Chester and Olive Edna Frampton Swanson.  She married Norman Mahnesmith February 21, 1967 in Galesburg.

Surviving are two sons, DuWayne Mahnesmith of Knoxville and Eddie (and Pam) Mahnesmith of Knoxville, two daughters, Denise (and John) Bainter of Alexis, Illinois and Penny Mahnesmith of Galesburg, two brothers, David (and Loretta) Swanson of Bartonville, Illinois and Rex (and Barb) Swanson of Kentucky, a sister, Shirley Newburg of Moline, Illinois, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and a great grandchild, Cameron Abbott. 

Peggy graduated from Galesburg High School in 1962.  She was a homemaker for her family.  She also worked as an assistant manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Galesburg.  She was a cook at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Knoxville, Seminary Manor Nursing Home and OSF St. Mary Hospital in Galesburg.  Peggy enjoyed crafting, including crocheting.  She also liked genealogy projects.  She was an avid bowler and bowled on several leagues in Galesburg.  Most of all, she loved getting her family together and spending time with her grandchildren. 

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  A service will follow at 7:00 p.m.  Rev. Andy Busch will officiate.  Cremation will follow the service.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
