Aaliyah Charlene Marie Campbell, 15, of Galesburg, and her unborn baby girl unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 4:13 a.m., at OSF. St. Mary’s Medical center in Galesburg.
She was born on September 2, 2008, in Galesburg, the daughter of Jamie Campbell and Samantha Horne.
Aaliyah was an outgoing and outspoken girl who always had a smile on her face. As any young girl, she enjoyed hanging out with her friends and listening to music of all kinds. She loved watching ASMR videos on TikTok in her free time. She adored the color pink and always enjoyed getting her nails done as well as dying her hair fun colors. Aaliyah was also an avid animal lover, particularly when it came to cats. She would even put food and water out to befriend and take care of the stray cats in her neighborhood. Aaliyah was especially fond of spending time with her mother Sam and sister, as family was very important to her. Lately, they had been enjoying watching movies together at home. She and her family had also recently celebrated her 15th birthday together. Aaliyah was a very caring young woman who will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her beautiful soul.
Surviving are her parents, a sister, Marianna Jordan, three uncles, Angel and Daniel Lopez, and Mark Horne, two aunts, Elizabeth Horne and Rachel Lopez, and Grandfather, Mark Horne all of Galesburg. Also surviving are many beloved cousins and friends. Aaliyah is preceded in death by her brother and her other grandparents.
A visitation will be Friday, September 15, 2023 from 5 ~ 7 p.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Galesburg. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West is honored to serve the family during this difficult time. Memorials in Aaliyah’s name may be made to Hinchliff-Pearson-West to aid in the final funeral expenses.
