Anthony "Donnie" Donald Joseph

Anthony Donald “Donnie” Joseph died at 7:02 p.m. surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at his home in Galesburg after a battle with cancer.

Donnie was born the oldest of eleven children to parents Edith (Frymire) and Anthony Joseph on June 15, 1944 in Peoria, Illinois. He lived in Peoria for a few years before his family relocated to Galesburg where he lived for the remainder of his life. He married JuDee Brodrick in Galesburg on May 16, 1965. Donnie was a laborer at Whirlpool for 42 years, retiring on February 25, 2005 when the plant closed. He loved to work on anything with an engine or motor and was well-known in his neighborhood for being able to fix just about anything. He never knew a stranger and his family often joked about how he couldn’t go anywhere without running into a friend, coworker, or relative and stopping to chat. Donnie will be remembered most as a loving mentor and role model for his family and close friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, “Papa”, brother, and friend and he will be sorely missed. 

Donnie leaves behind his wife of 56 years, JuDee, of Galesburg; daughters Kimberlee (Luke) Marquith of Wataga and Tracy Meridith of Galesburg; son Mark (Rebecca) Brodrick of Galesburg, and grandchildren Jordan Marquith, Maggie (Shane) Hubbard, Joshua (Kelsey) Healey, Jaicee Healey, Joiey (Jon) Tracy, Amber (James) Camp, Aaron Brodrick, and Aleczander (Syrenidi) Brodrick. He was a loving great-grandfather and “Papa” to Easton, Zander, Josslyn, Jaxon, Harlee, Hayden, Haylee, Haislee, Kaleb, Kamden, Kolton, and Syriah. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters: Joe (Debbie), Gary, Phillip (Karen), Carol, and Mary (Jerry). He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bill, Sam, Danny, and Mike; and his sister Janet.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel with funeral officiated by Pastor Danny England at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the chapel. In line with CDC and IDPH guidelines, attendees will be required to wear a mask in the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery immediately following the service.
