of 409 W. South St. died at 9:15 pm Friday, July 9, 2004 at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born on April 3, 1928 near Gilson to Robert A. and Minnie M. Howarter King. She married Kenneth L. Curry on April 12, 1946 in Knoxville, IL. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Jody Cecil and Kathy Stoneking both of Abingdon; one brother, Raymond (and Gwen) King of Shelbyville, IL; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harold King and one sister, Vergene Putnam. She had lived in Gilson most of her life where she graduated from Gilson High School in 1945. She had lived in Abingdon since 1993. She was a member of the Gilson Community Church. She was also a member of the Abingdon High School Athletic Booster Club and was a volunteer at the Care Center of Abingdon for over 20 years and also volunteered at the Knox County Nursing Home and Good Samaritan Nursing Home, both in Knoxville. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Raymond McLaren will officiate. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society Relay for Life Tompkins State Bank Team or the Volunteer Department at the Care Center of Abingdon.
