Barbara DeJaynes Obituary

68, of Galesburg and formerly of Abingdon, died at 9:50 am Saturday, May 7, 2005 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born January 10, 1937 in Abingdon to Fred and Gladys Landon Lund. She married Russell E. DeJaynes on June 16, 1956 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter. Surviving are five sons, Michael (and wife Aine) DeJaynes of Abingdon, Keith (and wife Dixie) DeJaynes of Burlington, IA, Danny (and wife Ronda) DeJaynes of Abingdon, John "Spanky" (and wife Shawn) DeJaynes of Abingdon and Kevin DeJaynes of Galesburg; a special friend, Eddie Roberts of Galesburg; two brothers, Jack (and wife Joan) Lund of San Antonio, TX, Mike (and wife Mary) George of Altona; two sisters, Alice Williamson of Abingdon and Mary Creighton of Galesburg; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She had lived in Abingdon most of her life. She graduated from Abingdon High School and attended Carl Sandburg College where she studied computer programming. She worked at the former Blue Bell Mfg. in Abingdon and later for Maytag Corp. in Galesburg for 25 years retiring in 1998. She attended the Foursquare Gospel Church in Galesburg. She was an avid Bingo player, enjoyed fishing and the riverboat casinos. Graveside service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Bob Wakefield will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Abingdon First Responders.
