Bertha Baldwin

80 of Abingdon died at 8:18 am Sunday, March 16, 2008 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. Bertha was born on November 2, 1927 in Monmouth, IL to Ralph and Helen Ishmael Thomas. She married Wilbur "Web" Baldwin on April 7, 1951 in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert "Bobby" Baldwin, Sr., three brothers and one sister. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra (and Jerry) Blackwell of Brookfield, MO; 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Bertha had worked as a nurse aid in Roseville, Abingdon and Galesburg. She had also worked at the Monmouth Pottery and for Gross Company in Galesburg. She enjoyed karaoke, bingo, card games and playing the lottery. Her family would especially like to thank Leona and Joe German and family, Steve and Dee for their special care of Bertha. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, March 20, 2008 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to her family.
