Bertha Jean Allen Dowler

65 of Fairmont City, IL and formerly of the Abingdon area died at 2:53 pm Friday, August 17, 2007 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. She was born on April 15, 1942 in Galesburg to Lee A. and Sarah Switzer Poulson. She married Andell Allen. He preceded her in death. She married William "Bill" Dowler on December 29, 1979 in Collinsville. He survives. She is also survived by a son, Daniel MacDee Allen, Sr. of Caseyville; 2 grandchildren; her sisters, Ann Boyer, Amy Atchison and Sally Anderson, Nancy West, Ethel Clark, Mary Hensley & Diana Parker. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Rex and Dale. She was raised in Warren County. She last worked in the activity department at a nursing home in Maryville. She had lived in the Fairmont City area since 1977 and prior to that had lived in the Galesburg and Abingdon areas. She was a member of Glad Tidings Church. She enjoyed making crafts. Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at Abingdon Cemetery. Eleanor Landon will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.
