Bertha Yocum Warren

81, 405 S. Jefferson St. died at 2:10 pm Monday, August 6, 2007 at the Avon Nursing Home. She was born on February 14, 1926 at home in Avon to James C. and Lissia V. Melvin Ross. She married Oral Franklin Yocum on December 3, 1943. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1968. She later married Dallas Warren on December 25, 1969 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1986. Bertha was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Jim Yocum and a sister Billie Lindsey. She is survived by two daughters, Melva Yocum of Abingdon and Mary (and David) Cameron of Bushnell; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by stepchildren and step-grandchildren. She worked for Protexall Inc. in Galesburg for 35 years. She was a member of the former First General Baptist Church in Abingdon and was a past member of the Abingdon Lay Council of Churches. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, August 9, 2007 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Rev. Terry Broady will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the chapel. Memorials may be made to the family.
