Beverly Mayo

65 of Abingdon and formerly of Garland, Texas died at 8:25 am Monday, July 12, 2004 at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg. She was born on January 29, 1939 in Galesburg to Melvin C. and M. Louise Nelson Butts. She married Dick Petrie in Abingdon. She later married Royce Mayo. Surviving are one daughter, Cynthia (and Kevin) Fiers of Coal Valley, IL; one sister, Elaine (and Don) Brown of Abingdon; one grandson, Joshua Fiers of Coal Valley; four nephews, Steve (and Judy) Brown of Houstonia, MO, Mark (and Traci) Brown of Abingdon, Rodney (and Megan) Brown of Knoxville, Jeff (and Debbie Schisler) Brown of Abingdon; one niece, Lisa (and David) Jacobs of Chatham, IL. Also surviving are great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. She recently moved back to Abingdon from Garland, Texas where she was an executive assistant for Quest Medical in Allen, TX. She was a member of the Professional Executive Assistants Organization in Texas. She was also a volunteer for PGA golf tournaments in several states. Cremation will be accorded. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Abingdon Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in care of Methodist Medical Center of Illinois, 221 N.E. Glen Oak Ave., Peoria, IL 61636.
