80, of 303 W. Sanitary Road, Abingdon, died at 6:45 am Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg. She was born on July 11, 1928 in Abingdon to Merle and Irma Kilpatrick Simpson. She married Glenn E. Thrasher on December 8, 1945 in Abingdon. Glenn preceded her in death on January 20, 2003. Carmen is survived by her daughter, Glenda (and Jim) Ralston of Avon; 3 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Terry (and Janice) Simpson of Abingdon, Ed (and Marsha) Simpson of Abingdon and Billy Simpson in the state of Washington; three sisters, Carol (and Bunk) Lewis, Cleta Boydstun and Joyce Fishel all of Abingdon. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister Waneta Quinn and three brothers, Roger, Gerald and Merle. Carmen had lived in Abingdon all her life. She worked at the former Gale Products in Galesburg for 28 years. She was of the Christian faith and enjoyed doing oil paintings and crafts. She was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 Auxiliary. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
