Carol Stegall, Marjorie

84, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon, died at 7:20 am Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at the Care Center. She was born on January 7, 1920 in Abingdon to Cecil and Carolyn Noll Blevins. She married Edward LeRoy Kubitz in 1943 in Washington D.C. She later married Paul Davis in 1946 in Washington D.C. She then married Milton "Mortie" Stegall in 1960 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death in 1976. Surviving are two sons, Edward (and Consi) Kubitz of Marion, IL, Paul S. (and Sarah) Davis of Galesburg; two daughters, Luanna Palmeiri of Canyon City, CO and Sheila (and Henry) Lavato of Liberal, KS; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She grew up in Abingdon and later moved to Washington D.C. and the state of Kansas. She worked for the treasury department as a clerk in the mapping division for many years in Washington D.C. She was a secretary for the former Stegall Insurance Agency in Abingdon and later was a caregiver for the elderly in Kansas. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church. Cremation will be accorded. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at the Abingdon Cemetery. Rev. Raymond McLaren will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Community Hospices of America.
