Carroll Max Shiplett

Carroll Max Shipplett passed away at his home in Yorba Linda, California, on November 8, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on November 19, 1933, in Abingdon, Illinois, to Max Romeyn Shipplett and Ruby (Harland) Shipplett.

He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1951 and went on to earn his degree from Knox College in 1955, an accomplishment of which he was especially proud. Following graduation, Carroll was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army and served in Korea during the Korean War as part of an intelligence unit. After his honorable discharge, he pursued graduate studies at Stanford University, earning his degree in 1962.

Carroll made his home in Yorba Linda, California, where he purchased his house in 1964 and remained there for the rest of his life. He worked on classified projects for Rockwell and Boeing until his retirement. In his personal life, he was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed traveling.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Rosalind Joyce Shipplett, Michael Shipplett, Mary Anne (Shipplett) Congdon, and Gary Shipplett.

Interment took place on April 4, 2026, in a private ceremony at the Abingdon Cemetery in Abingdon, Illinois.
