Catherine L. (Sheehan) Bohannan

Catherine L. (Sheehan) Bohannan, of Galesburg, died on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Seminary Manor, one day before her ninetieth birthday.

She was born July 28, 1934, in Waltham, Massachusetts, the daughter of Jeremiah and Ida M. (Poole) Sheehan. She married Merrill L. Bohannan on June 20, 1954, in Watertown, Massachusetts. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2012, after nearly 58 years of marriage.

She is survived by her children, Lori S. Bohannan and Steven M. Bohannan, both of Galesburg; her granddog, Shadow; her siblings, Allen (Joyce) Sheehan of Seward, Nebraska, Lillian Rogers of Quincy, Massachusetts, and Nancy Rizzo of Waltham, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Chuck Sheehan, Jerry Sheehan, and Barbara Owens.

Cathy worked in food service her entire working career. She worked at the Holiday Inn for many years, followed by 17 years at Galesburg Cottage Hospital. Lastly, she worked for The Kensington for 25 years in various roles. Cathy was a people person. She was an avid golfer and bowler, and she enjoyed line dancing. She served on the Ladies All-City Golf Committee for many years. Cathy was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 40 years.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Knoxville American Legion. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services is honored to serve the family.
