80 of Abingdon, died at 11:18 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2008, at the Care Center of Abingdon. She was born on October 27, 1927, in Galesburg, IL, to James L. and Elizabeth "Bess" McGivern Burke. She married Bernard "Butch" Fey on July 4, 1953. He survives. Eileen is also survived by her five children, Diana (and Steve) Herriott of Sidney, IL, Rebecca (and Dave) Dimmick of Murrayville, IL, David (and Veronica) Fey of Quincy, IL, James Fey of Colorado Springs, CO, and Nancy (and Mike) Voiland of Garner, NC; her seven grandchildren, Kristina Herriott of Fort Sam Houston, TX, Matthew Herriott (and fiancé, Samantha Woodworth) of Sidney, IL, Daniel Herriott of Sidney, IL, Samuel Dimmick of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, Emma, Chandler and Harrison Fey all of Quincy, IL; a step granddaughter, Doria Voiland of New York, NY; her four sisters, Loretta Ewing of Burlington, IA, Betty (and Frank) Mower of Kewanee, IL, Eleanor Miller of Galesburg, IL, and Helen Weaver of Crystal Lake, IL; a sister-in-law, Gerry Burke of Galesburg, IL. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Fred Burke. She grew up in Galesburg and was a member of the last graduating class from St. Joseph's Academy in 1945. She then attended the St. Francis School of Nursing in Peoria and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1948. She had lived most of her adult life near Abingdon. She worked at the Galesburg Clinic and later assisted her husband for many years at Fey's Processing Service in Abingdon. She was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed reading, knitting, plastic canvas and doing puzzles. She was a member of the North End Club, was a past member of the Abingdon Fire Protection District Auxiliary and also served as a 4-H leader. She enjoyed celebrating her Irish heritage and was well known for her fruit pies. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008, at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Memorials in honor of Mrs. Fey may be made to the Care Center of Abingdon.
